Jeff & Teresa Munn created a special moment with this champagne toast.
For us, COVID-winter was magical. Sledding. Off-road rides with spiked hot chocolate and heated blankets. Bundling up and lying on the ground, staring up at the diamond-filled skies until the cold drives you to the hot tub! So much laughter!
Throughout the winter of 2021, we stayed at Jeff & Teresa's every weekend. As spring approached, we knew we had to create our own space at Some Tuesday. The solution? A 10x12 canvas wall tent. It was COLD! We did not care. This is our original "homestead" in an area we call "the Cove" which is just inside the gate/ entrance. Twenty years ago, loggers leveled and cleared this area to provide space for staging their operations. Now, it houses our compound.
Father's Day Weekend, SIL Josh and daughter Annie brought supplies & equipment. Together, we built the "Friendship Platform" (let's be honest, it was almost all Josh). It has been the silent witness to much hilarity, more than a little tomfoolery, plenty of hijinks, and countless breathtaking sunsets.
Our first summer lives on in our memories. Words fail. Pictures cannot capture it. Only those who joined us then know what we mean.
We lived in a tent without running water or electricity.
It was the best summer of our lives.
As summer wound down, Tricia insisted that we build a tiny cabin where we could live year 'round. We both knew that we could not be away from Some Tuesday. On October 13, 2021, "the Shabin" arrived. It is a 10x24 "shed-cabin." It is wonderful!
One of our trickiest issues was the home site approach. Our friend and artist-excavator, Matt Waggy of MMW Excavating, studied various options for over a year. Finally, he figured it out and build a beautiful driveway approach.
There's nothing cold or boring about our winters!
Matt Waggy created a FANTASTIC fire pit! We can't wait for you to enjoy it with us.
If you can't find Kenny, look in the tractor cab.
Neither of us had ever built anything before. Don't look too closely - it was our freshman effort - but we sure are proud of our wood shed!
We are so excited to share this magical place with you! In 2022-23, we added a bath house with a real toilet, a shower, vanity, washer/ dryer, and fridge. It also has an outdoor kitchen. All the comforts of home!

In 2014, Tricia's longest friend, Jen Fulmer, finished her bachelor's degree at the University of Richmond. For two years, Jen had driven down from Fairfax every Friday for class, stayed at Tricia's house on Friday night, and gone to class on Saturday before driving back home to NoVA. Tricia threw a party to celebrate this long-deferred achievement and invited all of Jen's classmates.....
Kenny and Jen were in the same cohort at the University of Richmond. Kenny knew that Jen stayed with a friend but, for some reason, he thought "Jen's friend" was an older woman. Like the gentleman he is, Kenny brought a bouquet of flowers to the party. When Tricia's Mom greeted Kenny at the door, he thought she was Tricia. "No, that's not me. Tricia is over there."
Tricia and Kenny talked through the whole party. He promised to call the next day. At the end of the night, Annie (Tricia's daughter) said "Hey Mom, what's up with the tall guy? You gotta make that happen!"
And the rest is history....
June 20, 2018 -- Four years after we met. Kenny planned a picnic at Libby Hill Park, our favorite spot overlooking the James River just five blocks from our condo.
